Hi,
For all of you who were at last Thursday's presentation by DIAC>(Immigration) there was incorrect information given about the "2 year>study rule" .
The DIAC presenter has asked that I contact you to clarify>this.>>Below is the information sent by DIAC.>
>Exemption and the 2 year study rule:>>
After the 1st September 2007, if you are doing a 2 year course and take>any>exemptions which will mean that you are doing less than 2 years of study>for your course, then you will not be meeting the 2 year study rule.>
Example: You do a Masters of Accounting course that is for two years and> you take an exemptions for 2 subject which means you will now be finishing>the course in 18 months because of these exemptions you will NOT be>considered to be studying for 2 years, hence you will not meet the 2 year>study>requirement.>
>However if your doing a course that is 2.5 or 3 years , and you take some>exemptions for this , which means you are still studying for 2 years ,>then>this is OK. Students need to calculate how long their course will actually>be cut back if they are to take exemptions for prior studies. If taking>exemptions means that they will be doing less than 2 years of study , then>this will not allow them to meet the 2 year study rule.>>
