The purpose of hiring a immigration consultant is for peace of mind and hope to smoothly get the Canadian PR visa as soon as possible. But before hiring, you must know that what the consultant (or lawyer) can do is just prepareing the documents (how to prepare these documents you can find from the Internet) for the applicant and do nothing for accelerating process time or promoting applicants' conditions to meet the Canadian immigration creteria at all! Many people called upon being cautious on hiring so-called "immigration consultants or lawyers" by their personal "bloody" experiences. Even you are lucky making a good contract with a good consultant or lawyer, you must realize that, the consultant will be an isolator of cutting off the contact between you and Canada embassy. The embassy will not answer your any inquires and questions instead of contacting to your consultant about your case during the whole process time. So hiring a consultant means the applicant will be under the control by the consultant and do what the consultant ask you to do! People all know that the money is the main target of the consultant or lawyer. If you refused to do what they asked (even a blackmail), you couldn't get your visa(the visa will mail to your consultant instead of mailing to you, the applicant!) The Canadian immigration policy is accessible by public and very transparent, anyone can get these info through Internet WWW free of charge. But why so many people are still trapped?

First, people lack the immigration information, only know the immigration trend from the immigration company's newspaper ads and think of that is the unique way to apply Canadian PR visa, and also believe what the consultant's ads on newspaper that have "relationship" with embassy. Second, some people stuck it rich in the past few years, not care money very much, and hold the belief of " Money can drive ghost to work". But, this rule only functioned amid mainland Chinese officials, not works in Canadian government civil servants. Wake up my friends! Saving your money for the rainy days is more worthful than blindlessly send it to those so-called consultant who were once losers in Canada to buy so much headache! (Double worry during the application process time, the embassy's questions and consultant's fraudulant arts)

What I remarked above is for reminding people to keep watchful of hiring consultants and lawyers.Meanwhile, I value the freedom of choice very much!

If you have already hired a consultant or lawyer, but you find you were charged unreasonable or couldn't get the proper sevice he/she promised, you definitely can terminate the contract legally.

You can definitely terminate your contract with your previous lawyer.

Reason: According to Canadian Privacy Act, Nobody can access your personal files, only when you give the right or permission to that third party. If you write a letter inform the Canadian Embassy that you terminated the contract with your previous lawyer, No one in Canadian Embassy will release any information to your previous lawyer. if you find they do so, you can sue them, it is against law. For detailed description see "CANADIAN PRIVACY ACT" SECTION 8(2). [page]

How to terminate contract with your lawyer: write a letter to Canadian Embassy make it clear of follows:

From now on, I hereby request you to discuss my Canadian P.R application with me DIRECTLY.

I already terminated contract with my previous lawyer as of this date: 13/13/1998, Nobody will represent me before your office.

My current mailing address is: Room 123, ABC street, DEF district, GHI 456789

Result: Officers in Canadian embassy will contact you directly, once they received this letter. NO one can ignore this letter.

Example: It's my own experience, I fired my lawyer successfully, who ever wanted to charge me USD $10,000 when I was in China. I paid them USD $1000, before they prepared my documents. but after I moved to other countries, and collected surfficient information, I fired them. They were very angry that time, but they don't have any choices. Of cause, if they wanted only charged me $2000 to $3000 at that time, I would definitely pay them. Because it saves you a lot of troubles.
